Hawaii County, the Big Island, is lowest at $2,076. Even Hawaii's "low" number would be high almost anywhere else. And within Honolulu County itself, ZIP-level Small Area FMRs stretch from $2,060 to $3,960, the widest range in the state. That's the difference between a unit near Waikiki and one further out on Oahu, both technically in the same county. With just five counties total and three of them tied to a metro area, Hawaii doesn't have much room to hide its rent gaps.
